VILTHE ROMAN

"Hidden among the breathtaking landscapes of the island of Giannutri, the Roman Villa enchants visitors with its beautytoric, creating a link between past and present.
On the summit of Monte Mario, the Roman Villa, built between the 1st and 2nd centuries AD. by the Domizi Enobarbi, reveals the secrets of a forgotten era. Abandoned in the 3rd century, it preserves traces of cisterns, thermal environments and residential spaces, a mystery suspended between the waves of time."
GIANNUTRI

The island of Giannutri, since the dawn of antiquity, owes its name to the delicate crescent curve that embracescia the sea, recalling the crescent moon, symbol of the goddess Artemis or Diana. This name, whispered by the winds of time, has evolved over the centuries, dancing between variations such as Ianuti, Januti and Gianuti. However, in the ancient silence of the island, an Etruscan secret is hidden: "Ianuthri", an ancestral name that preserves the mystery of its origins, linked to the eternal Diana, the goddess of the moon and hunting.
LABYRINTH MOSAIC
It represents an extraordinary testimony to ancient art and mythology, with its black and white tiles having regained their ancient beauty thanks to a meticulous restoration process. This work of art, now carefully restored, transports us into the depths of Greek mythology: at the center of the labyrinth, we can admire Theseus who,
with heroism, faces the fearsome Minotaur,
while his beloved Arianna waits
eager for his return,
clutching the famous ball of thread in his hands.
This mosaic offers us a
compelling visual storytelling, narrating a
of the most iconic stories of antiquity,
embedded in the very fabric of art and history.
LEGEND
Tamong the waves of Giannutri, the legend of Marietta Moschini, lover of "Garibaldino" Gualtiero Adami, persists. After his death in 1922, Marietta, like a shadow,
vhoisted on the island until its end. On summer nights, it is said that the moan topassionate about Marietta weaves the wind, carrying with it the eternal story of their love.
